REPRODUCTION CBX INSTRUMENT FACES

The reason the original faces look so bad today is that they were printed onto fluorescent acrylic which is badly affected by sunlight. They looked great when new but fade after a few years and go brown.

These reproduction instrument faces have been produced by screen printing the original artwork onto high quality automotive vinyl then laminating onto original size laser cut acrylic sheet.

The vinyl is almost an exact colour match with the original face (yes the original face was red) but has the advantage of being designed to be left out in the sun, thus eliminating any fade.

This vinyl also allows the instrument to be backlit at night as the original was.

The silver on the back of the face acts as a light diffuser.

Some suggestions –

• The pins that the pointers rest on will have to be transferred to the new faces. This is quite simple when pushed out from behind.

      Do not pull them from the front as they are easily damaged with pliers.

• I strongly recommend that the instruments are overhauled at the same time, which if nothing else will at least lubricate the mechanism and should provide a new lease of life.
